The director of the latest Star Wars film, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Itself, has said the film is “an absolute masterpiece”.
Speaking to reporters ahead of a new movie announcement at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, Harrison Ford said the original Star Wars trilogy had “given me the drive to make this film”.
“It gave me the energy to do this film, and I’ve been working on it for a while now,” he said.
“I think this is the culmination of the years that I’ve spent with the movies, and it’s really cool.”
It’s a masterpiece, and we can’t wait to see it.
“The Force Awakens was released in December 2015.
The announcement comes on the heels of the release of Star Wars Episode VII, which is scheduled for release in December 2019.
Ford said the sequel was his favourite film, but not necessarily in the way he wanted it to be.”
We wanted it not just to be about Luke, but it’s also about Rey, and the way she came into the world, and how she came to be in the movie,” he explained.”
She’s been a big part of this film.
“When she goes into space, she’s an old woman who’s been looking for a new home.”
The whole time she’s been trying to find that new home, but then she’s found herself in the wrong place.
“There’s a lot of story and a lot more of emotional stuff in there.”
But that’s what makes it special, that’s how I wanted it.
